Under the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Division
is the educational leader and chief administrative officer of the Division.
With the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Division
is responsible for the programs of the Division and its departments, and
for the articulation of the College's educational ideals with respect to
them.
Divisional/Departmental
The Dean of the Division is the chief administrator in the Division
and is directly responsible to the Vice President for Academic Affairs
for the performance of his/her duties and for the functioning of the Division
in the following areas:
Leadership -- in the development and maintenance of the educational
perspective of Dordt College and the quality and range of the curricular
offerings.
Faculty recruitment -- as outlined in written statements of faculty
recruiting processes and policies -- for both full-time and part-time positions
in the Division.
Faculty personnel administration -- including:
Institutional
Deans of the Divisions will serve on the Academic Council.
Deans of the Divisions will represent their divisions on the Long Range
Planning Committee.
Teaching
Division Deans will be required to remain active in teaching so that
they will not lose contact with the classroom.
