Coaches Philosophy:
Our goals are to teach the players some basketball fundamentals and basic skills, develop teamwork and Christian character, allow for all the kids to play and to have fun!
For the 2010-2011 7th grade Boys season, I will be coaching 2 different teams.
I want to provide a school AAU team where all players interested at Sioux Center Christian kids can play more competitively and have fun with their classmates. The second team will be a highly competitive team where interested players from multiple Christian schools will be invited to join the team. This competitive team will play more difficult tournaments and practice more often. In this way there will be a balanced approach to competition and learning. This way every player will have the opportunity to play at what ever level that they are competitive at and enjoy their basketball experience. I found that in the past players were in situations where it was unfair for them- putting a player in situations where they could not be competitive and learn either in too competitive a situation or putting them not a competitive enough situation. I understand there will be kids at different levels and with different skill sets and goals therefore I created the two teams. This should be a great learning experience for the players, as well as some great memories. However, to be fair to all those on the team, we ask that you make a commitment to try and go to all the practices and games. Tournaments will take up most of a Saturday. Some tournaments are on Friday and Saturday. Parents are responsible for transportation for their kids, although car-pools could be arranged. With Junior High Basketball starting we will not be needing a recreational team as School Junior High Basketball fulfills that need.
